ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"I am a self-taught contemporary fine artist from Cornwall in the United Kingdom. The region is often admired for its rural beauty, yet there is something inherently wild and ancient in the landscape that captivates the imagination and greatly influences my work.
Drawing inspiration from the natural landscape, I strive to combine elements of light, colour and texture to convey my admiration of the seasons and the changes they bring to the natural world.
I aim to create paintings that are atmospheric and evocative, portraying fleeting moments in time but with underlying themes of longevity and timelessness. My work varies from semi-realistic with distinct and recognisable elements to more abstracted and ethereal paintings.
I believe that nature can provide unlimited inspiration and an idea or subject of a piece of artwork can be found almost anywhere. Like many others, I particularly love forested valleys, golden sunsets, and rugged coastlines. Many fantastic examples of these can be found throughout my home county and the rest of the UK.
Continuing to search for new ideas and inspiration, I often draw from my own experiences to create scenes both real and imagined. While primarily working with acrylics, I have also used gouache, watercolours and ink."
